We are
Reason Digital

We are a social enterprise supporting people to use digital media for social good.

Because making rich people
a little richer isn't any fun

Reason Digital is a talented team of socially motivated designers, programmers and project managers working together to make award winning digital media projects centered around the aims and objectives of organisations working for social good.

Our clients include national charities, the BBC, Russel Group universities and local government wanting to use digital media to cost-effectively engage new service users, funders and volunteers with the good work they're doing.

Founders...

Ed Cox

With 10 years' experience in the public sector, and a trustee of three charities, it's hard to imagine a better person to manage your not-for-profit digital media project.

Matt Haworth

With the BBC and The University of Manchester on his CV, Matt brings his 7 years experience in media and web design in the public and third sector to the creative production of your project.

The Team...

We've built our team to perfectly meet the digital media needs of the sector, from design to programming, video production to project management. You just wouldn't find this joined-up mix of skills in anything other than a forward thinking digital media agency for the public and third sector.

As socially motivated as they are skilled, our team always get behind the causes and organisations we support - we're all volunteers, trustees and donors of a range of charities.

We also regularly work with a range of ethical partners and freelancers to help boost our capacity and make sure your website, social media, content, print and PR are seamlessly working towards your organisations objectives for the best value spend. These include ngo.media and Dovetail (we did both of their websites, by the way).

Our social aims

Not just a partner to many third sector organisations but part of the sector ourselves, we've designed our social enterprise model to give back to our clients, our staff and our communities wherever we can.

We place benefit to people and the planet above our profit - monitoring our positive impact with a triple bottom line.

Our clients all have one thing in common, somehow, somewhere, they're trying to make the world a bit of a better place to be. That's why we've made sure our social aims support them however we can. The main way we do this is to provide free services to small, growing organisations, and to provide the best value rates for support partnerships and digital media projects to larger organisations. By making sure we focus on what really matters to not-for-profits, our daily rate is a third of many of our commercial competitors.

By taking the time to get to know the needs of your service users we make sure your spend on digital media actively contributes towards supporting them in the best possible way. We know how people from a range of backgrounds use technology, and coupling this with research into your audience gives us amazing results.

We also focus on giving our staff what they need to do a great job for great organisations, and develop their skills. Each one has a more experienced mentor (who are getting harder and harder to find!) and 10 paid volunteering days a year to use at a charity of their choice. This makes sure they get directly involved with the causes they're supporting with digital media, and they feel able to give something back in more ways than with technology.

We also support our community, supporting paid internships, and getting local college and university students involved in our work to transfer the knowledge we have into the next generation, and inspire them to think about a socially concious career. We were even given a Knowledge Transfer Partnership award for our work with Oldham University's Digital Journalism students.

We're also aware of how our work affects our planet, and ensure we use as little power, paper and petrol in the development of our digital media projects as we can. We also help our clients be more green and efficient by digitising many of their interactions with service users that used to require reams of paper, postal forms, leaflets and booklets.
